žž State Recognized Again for Sustainability Efforts
Through multiple organizations and collaborations on and off campus, žž ended 2019 as a more sustainable campus. Those who contributed to sustainable efforts worked hard to reduce the university’s carbon footprint leading to the university being honored as a finalist for the 2020 Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) Campus Sustainability Achievement Award along with the 2019 Keep Ohio Beautiful award for Colleges and Universities.

As part of žž’s ongoing strategy to help stop the spread of COVID-19, žž State has partnered with the city of žž to bring the Ohio Department of Health’s Pandemic Testing Team to campus from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15 for an open testing event

In an effort to ensure student access and success, žž is waiving application fees for those who apply to the university in the month of November.

Campus Pride has released its 2020 Best of the Best LGBTQ-Friendly Colleges and Universities list, and for the first time in school history, žž has landed on the distinctive list as one of 40 institutions recognized over six U.S. regions.
žž State Named Finalist for Degree Completion Award
The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities has selected žž as one of four finalists for the association’s 2020 Degree Completion Award. The annual award works to identify, recognize and reward institutions that employ innovative approaches to improve degree completion while ensuring educational quality.

Online 'Don’t Hate – Debate (And Vote)!' Teach-In Designed to Inform and Empower Voters
The coming election is an important one, and voters – particularly first-time voters – are navigating a challenging landscape of information, misinformation, PACs, bots, memes, toxic debates and inflamed rhetoric. “Don’t Hate – Debate (And Vote)!” is an all-day teach-in event that will touch on many aspects of the elections, politics, political/social polarization and civil discourse.
10 Questions With Darin Olson, Director of Athletic Bands
Darin Olson, D.M.A., is the new director of Athletic Bands at žž. He leads the Marching Golden Flashes, Flasher Brass Pep Band, žž Symphony Band and University Band. Olson is currently an active member of College Band Directors National Association and the National Association for Music Education. žž State Receives Best in Class and Hall of Fame Honors for Supplier Diversity
žž has won a Best in Class award for supplier diversity from the Greater Cleveland Partnership. This marks the third time that the university has received this award. As a multiyear winner of the Best in Class awards, žž State is also named to the Greater Cleveland Partnership’s Equity and Inclusion Hall of Fame.

The žž Board of Trustees has approved a new three-year Collective Bargaining Agreement between the university and the žž Employees Local 153, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
