Honors College and Education Abroad Gave žžÀ² State Grad Tools For Success

Honors College ranked high when graduate Josh Budd was deciding whether to attend žžÀ² State because it offered him a challenging experience through its thesis programs and its education-abroad program. Studying abroad helped him develop more empathy and connection with people of backgrounds different from his own.

Spring 2023 President's and Dean's Lists Announced

žžÀ² at Ashtabula has announced its Dean’s List and President’s List for the Spring 2023 semester. 

Requirements for the Dean’s List include a 3.40 grade point average or above for the semester and at least 12 letter-graded (A, B, etc.) credit hours completed by the end of the semester.

President’s List criteria are a 4.00 grade point and at least 15 letter-graded credit hours completed by the end of the semester.

Ashtabula Campus Commencement Speaker Courtney Johnson and her family

Local mom and now grad headed to Ivy League

Courtney Johnson journeyed from high school to a successful career to start a family, all while moving across the Southern United States and back to Ashtabula, Ohio. After she received her Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies (BTAS) degree at the žžÀ² State Ashtabula Spring 2023 Commencement Ceremony, she has one more stop, Columbia University. She will begin her Master's in Information & Knowledge Strategy (IKNS) at the prestigious university this fall.

After 15 years, Canton resident Timothy Johnson earned his associate and bachelor's degrees from žžÀ² State.

Fifteen Years + Tenacity + Devotion to Family = Associate and Bachelor's Degrees

Timothy Johnson said žžÀ² State advisors, who knew he had been working on his degree for 15 years, helped him coordinate his schedule so that he could take in-person classes â€” while working a full-time job â€” and still have time to spend with his children. He earned an associate degree in December 2022 and a bachelor's degree in May 2023.

Family Creates Scholarship in Son’s Memory

Timothy Mikes, ’17, MPH ’23, was a College of Public Health (CPH) graduate student committed to public health and a champion for the autistic community and students with learning disabilities. A new scholarship created by his family will support future CPH students.
