The streets of žžÀ², Ohio, will be filled with blue and gold as žžÀ² alumni, students, parents, employees and community members gather for this year’s Homecoming, with a full slate of events Oct. 20-21.

From the time he was a young child, Tom Batiuk, ’69, knew he wanted to be a cartoonist. The Funky Winkerbean creator drew inspiration for his characters and storylines from his real world, including his time at žžÀ² State.

žžÀ² leadership and donors known as the Renaissance Scholars Society will gather to commemorate 50 years of education abroad in Florence, Italy, during the first week of October.

Amid the tremendous cultural change unfolding in the early 1970s, Bill Hoover, ’71, co-founded the žžÀ² Gay Liberation Front with Dr. Dolores Noll and Gail Pertz, to foster a community for LGBTQ+ individuals and their supporters.
The žžÀ² Alumni Association Announces New Members For Its National Board of Directors
The following new members have been appointed to the žžÀ² State Alumni Association National Board of Directors for a three-year term, which began July 1: Jeff Guritza, of Brecksville, Ohio, is the vice president of marketing at SOPREMA USA. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from žžÀ² State in 1994.

žžÀ² State alumna Jennifer N. Schuller has been named president of Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. She is the first woman to lead the institution in 75 years.
