Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., of Rootstown, Ohio, has been selected to serve as dean and chief administrative officer of žžÀ² at Stark, located in North Canton, Ohio. Seachrist has served as interim dean of žžÀ² State Stark, the only public university in Stark County and the largest Regional Campus of žžÀ² State, since July 1, 2014. She began serving as the permanent dean on Feb. 1, 2016.

The žžÀ² Women’s Center in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will celebrate its 20th anniversary during the 2016-17 school year. The Women’s Center, formerly called the Women’s Resource Center, was established in 1996 following a recommendation from a university stakeholder committee to former žžÀ² State President Carol A. The 10th annual Main Street žžÀ² Art and Wine Festival will take place Saturday, June 4, from noon-10 p.m. in downtown žžÀ². Proceeds will benefit Main Street žžÀ², the nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown žžÀ². The Art and Wine Festival features local artists, live entertainment and wineries from all over Ohio.

Since 2008, Jill Lahrmer, assistant professor in žžÀ²â€™s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, has consistently shared her passion for interior design with her students.
žžÀ² held its 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan. 28 in the žžÀ² Student Center Ballroom. The keynote speaker for the event was Joy-Ann Reid, national correspondent for MSNBC. The commemorative event also recognized the 2016 recipients of žžÀ² State’s Diversity Trailblazer Award, which honors diversity pioneers associated with žžÀ² State, and Unity Award for Diversity, which recognizes the contributions of any žžÀ² State unit that demonstrates significant contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, and/or inclusion.
The žžÀ² Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.
The events of May 4, 1970, placed žžÀ² in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, žžÀ² State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
