School of Journalism and Mass Communication Director Thor Wasbotten has rejoined the School’s faculty and will serve as the College of Communication and Information’s Director of Community Engagement. žž State spectators look to the sky during the solar eclipse.

Using protective glasses, cell phones and the occasional cardboard box, žž students, faculty and staff gathered outside Monday afternoon to catch a glimpse of the solar eclipse.  žž 80 to 85 percent of the total solar eclipse was visible from campus, with the peak viewing time at approximately 2:30 p.m. A group of about 200 gathered on the commons outside the žž Student Center to sky-watch for the event, being called “the Great American Eclipse,” because it could only be viewed from the United States. žž volunteers help move freshman into their new residence halls during the annual service program, called Movers and Groovers.

At the beginning of each school year, žž faculty, staff and students volunteer to help incoming freshmen move into the university’s residence halls. The annual service program, called Movers and Groovers, is coordinated by žž Interhall Council, the student government of the residence halls on the žž Campus. The volunteers aid new students and their families, providing assistance and helping to make the move-in process less stressful.
