Twenty-two women from across Ohio will competed in this year’s Miss Ohio Scholarship Program June 15 at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield. Among the contestants three were žž students who hold the titles Miss Oxford, Miss Akron Canton and Miss South Central.   Miss Oxford   Niles native Caitlin Seifert, 19, a fashion merchandising major, possesses a talent in baton twirling. Phillip Grant Jr., a žž honors student and žž native, recently served as a tour guide for WKYC’s Danielle Wiggins as she explored all that the Tree City has to offer as part of WKYC’s Unzipped Series.   The series highlights the unique features of the cities and locations throughout Northeast Ohio region.   Mr. Grant, 22, a broadcast journalism major, grew up in žž, and knows his way around town from popular restaurants to the most frequented recreation spots.    “žž has really changed throughout the years,” Mr. Grant told WKYC’s Ms. Wiggins. ...

NASA Student Launch Competition

  Seven students from the žž State High-Power Rocket Team traveled to Huntsville, Alabama to participate in their first NASA Student Launch Competition. Students came from around the country with the goal to design, build and fly a rocket and payload that would deploy upon landing. The name of the team’s rocket was “Flash…Ahh Ahh!” In reference to the classic Queen song and the žž State Golden Flashes. Air Race Classic Winners

    žž’s (KSU) Kenzie Alge ’19 and Alex Johnson finished fourth place among collegiate competition teams and 12th place overall in the 2019 Air Race Classic!  The team finished with zero penalties. These results are the best since KSU began competing in the ARC in 2016.  The flight technology students were racing against a tough handicap speed and had a lot of challenging decisions with weather. Gov. Mike DeWine has appointed Jasmine Hoff of Cleveland, Ohio, to a two-year term as a graduate student trustee of the žž Board of Trustees. Ms. Hoff’s term began June 11 and ends May 16, 2021. She replaces Jessica Peck, whose term as a graduate student trustee recently ended. Ms. Hoff holds three nursing degrees – associate, baccalaureate and master’s – all from žž State. She currently is pursuing a doctorate in Nursing Practice and an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner graduate certificate, which provides nurses who already have a graduate nursing deg...
