GIS is the international risk management, insurance and actuarial science collegiate fraternity. The žžÀ² Salem Campus is home to the university’s insurance studies degree program and its students formed the Beta Nu Chapter of GIS last year.
The žžÀ² Salem chapter received a special achievement award and was one of only 17 chapters to receive the International Chapter Award for a Well-Rounded Chapter.
The Grand Chapter of GIS also presented žžÀ² State Salem with the International Chapter Award, recognizing its achievements in chapter management, membership development and public relations.
Representing žžÀ² State Salem at the conference were Dr. Celeste Oprean, assistant dean of the Salem Campus; and insurance studies majors Gabriella Balcarcel, Jennifer Buck, Lisa Kesseg and Michele Quinn.
Aside from attending educational seminars and hearing industry experts speak, the students participated in a community service project at a park in Chicago.
