What made you decide to pursue a graduate degree?
I decided to pursue a graduate degree because it opens more career opportunities and helps set me up for long-term success in the accounting field. I’m also planning to take the CPA exam in the near future, and gaining advanced knowledge through graduate coursework will allow me to feel more prepared and confident going into it.
What inspired you to choose žžÀ² for continuing your education?
I recently completed my bachelor’s degree in accounting at žžÀ² State, and I was part of the combined BBA/MSA program. Staying here for graduate school felt like the right choice because of the strong relationships I had already built with the faculty and staff. The flexibility of the online program also played a big role. It allows me to continue my education while balancing work and other commitments.
How has this program provided flexibility in your schedule?
One of the biggest advantages of the Master of Science in Accounting program is that it’s fully online and asynchronous. That flexibility has made it possible for me to maintain a regular work schedule while staying on track with my studies. I can manage my time in a way that works best for me, which has made the graduate school experience much more manageable.
Can you share a memorable moment or achievement while studying at žžÀ² State?
One of the most memorable moments for me was walking across the stage on graduation day after finishing my undergraduate degree. It was such a rewarding experience to celebrate that achievement with my family and friends. I truly couldn’t have reached that point without the support of my family and the žžÀ² State community, especially the amazing faculty in the Department of Accounting.
How has žžÀ² State supported your academic and personal growth?
žžÀ² State has helped me grow in so many ways. Academically, the accounting coursework gave me a strong foundation that I was able to apply during internships. Personally, I gained leadership experience through on-campus roles that helped me become more confident and better at working with others. I’m especially thankful for the supportive environment created by the faculty and advisors – they have been there every step of the way.
How do you see this program impacting your future career?
I believe this program will have a positive impact on my career by deepening my understanding of accounting and helping me prepare for the CPA exam. While everyone’s path is different, having a graduate degree may improve my chances of being considered for more advanced roles and could potentially lead to increased earning opportunities in the future.
